arles non era lontano dal mediterraneo . all'inizio di giugno 1888 Vincent ha visitato il villaggio di pescatori di Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer dove , nel giro di pochi giorni , ha prodotto due paesaggi marini , una vista del villaggio e nove disegni . scrisse a theo su uno dei paesaggi marini : “ ho fatto il disegno delle barche quando sono partito molto presto la mattina , e ora sto lavorando a un dipinto basato su di esso , a dimensioni 30 tela con più mare e cielo a destra . Era prima che le barche si affrettassero fuori ; Li avevo visti ogni mattina , ma mentre partono molto presto io didn’t ho tempo di dipingerli . ”
